Directory backstory
When the original online directory at butoh.net became inactive and the only other resource—butoharchive.herokuapp.com—remained minimal and outdated, a need emerged for a comprehensive, continuously growing butoh directory that would also include butoh artists not previously documented. Currently the archive features over 1000 butoh artists and is maintained with care. The following sources were used for this new directory:
